Gigacon is an educational based, multimedia convention sponsored by The Art Institute of Washington (AiW). We incorporate many of the majors at the AiW, such as; Media arts and Animation, Game Art, Graphic Design, Audio Production, Fashion, and many more. And we try our best to bring in professionals from each of those fields. Students, as well as faculty members, and outside visitors gain knowledge, tips, and tricks from the professionals at Gigacon.
You’ve probably noticed the robot all over the site. Well, that’s because Gigabot is our mascot for Gigacon. He represents the collection of ideas and inspirations that push our art students to greatness. He’s a little robot with big ideas, as seen here in his first animation as he haphazardly creates the major mix of medias that is Gigacon!
By no means should there be any videotaping of any kind in the Portfolio Reviews, Demos, or Panel Discussion. You can however take pictures during our other events such as the Costume contest, at professionals and artisist alley tables, and drawing contests. So, please be aware of where you are before you use cameras or camcorder. This rule is highly enforced and may result in confiscation of camera/video, or expulsion from the rest of the convention. We also ask for all guests to be safe and keep track of all personal belongings. We will not be held responsible for any unattended items. There are also separate rules for those participating in the Costume contest and/or Artist Alley.
See the Artist Alley page, and the Activities page for more information on their respective Camera policies.
You should expect lots of art and lots of talk about art within varied fields. You should bring a notebook, and or sketchbook to take notes and draw. You should bring cash to enter the convention, get food in the surrounding area, or to buy art from one, or more, of the many tables in Artist Alley. Many of the artists there are students or freelance and may not have a credit card machine at hand.
